As the Government of India promotes green energy project, CNG and Bio CNG have good demand in the open market. CBG proposed to sell in open market i.e. to automotive, fuel stations , industrial units where the furnaces and boilers are used , also in domestic household purpose.
Under SATAT GoI scheme, There is mutual commercial agreement with Oil and Marketing Companies (OMCs) for supply of CBG daily 2.5 MT/DAY for next 15 year. And it can also be extended by mutual agreement of both parties.
CBG will be the substitute to the petroleum and LPG in near future
Demand of the CBG will increase more in the future
Compressed Bio-Gas networks can be integrated with city gas distribution (CGD) networks to boost supplies to domestic and retail users in existing and upcoming markets. Besides retailing from OMC fuel stations, Compressed Bio-Gas can at a later date be injected into CGD pipelines too for efficient distribution and optimised access of a cleaner and more affordable fuel.
CBG production encourages effective waste management by utilizing agricultural and municipal waste, thereby reducing the environmental impact of organic waste disposal.
By promoting the production and use of CBG, India can enhance its energy security by diversifying its energy sources. This reduces reliance on imported fossil fuels, contributing to energy independence
CBG can be used as a cleaner alternative to traditional fuels in transportation, reducing air pollution and improving air quality. It can be used in vehicles and as a cooking fuel.
CBG projects can stimulate rural development by providing farmers and rural communities with an additional source of income through the sale of agricultural residues and other organic waste for CBG production.
The CBG value chain, from waste collection to production and distribution, can generate employment opportunities, especially in rural areas. This can contribute to economic growth and poverty alleviation.
Continued investment in CBG infrastructure, such as production units, distribution networks, and refueling stations, will be crucial for realizing its full potential. Infrastructure development will facilitate the widespread adoption of CBG.
CBG production can be integrated with agricultural activities, providing farmers with an additional revenue stream. This integration can enhance the overall sustainability of agriculture and create a circular economy.
